It is our responsibility as HUMANS to lend help and support where it is needed. We all have to work together as individuals to strive towards a common goal as a people in search of peace, love and understanding. It doesn’t matter what you believe in or what you do not believe in, when help is needed, you help.
Charitable giving and volunteer work are not religious acts, they are not race specific, gender specific nor are they sexual orientation specific acts, but rather acts of basic human kindness, the natural instinct that we are all born with to help and protect those we love.
With everything that seperates all nations, religions and races, i believe that charity, the simple act of doing the right thing is one thing we all CAN and SHOULD have in common.
I was a Team Captian for the ALLS Annual Light The Night Walk for 4 years, raising thousands of dollars for children suffering from leukemia and lymphoma. I have been an Adult Literacy Tutor for 5 years, helping adults of all ages improve their reading skills, some of whom could not read at all. I have volunteered in soup kitchens and nursing homes and I am an active blood and plasma donor for the Red Cross.
These are things that I am very proud of, and maybe you don’t have an interest in peoples reading skills. Maybe you are deathly afraid of needles and can’t give blood. My point in writing this is that there are thousands of organizations in this world THAT NEED YOUR HELP, and if you look long enough, I’m sure you can find one that can have a place in your heart.
I am listing a few here, feel free to contact these charities and lend a hand, or leave comments about your own organization or cause that you feel passionate about.
